Philosophy

As you journey through my images, you’ll embark on a journey of self-discovery that will lead you away from this invasive reality, liberating the poet within and enabling you to find a greater capacity for love. Observation brings the perennial benefits of a youthful spirit.

The ability to offer stimulating visions to yourself and others, visions that suggest space, silence and music that is set apart from the dehumanising chaos.

I was born and spent the first three years of my life in a chalet on a hilltop in Mapello, close to Bergamo. The garden was filled with flowers and vine-covered pergolas; from the balconies overlooking the valley you could see expanses of yellow corn; the statue of the Madonnina on the cathedral in Milan sparkled on the horizon.

I still regard the way of life in the hills as an ideal escape from the polluting confusion of everyday life: you can listen in silence to your deepest being, rediscover the sound of footsteps on grass or in the snow, listen to birdsong – always cheerful and sometimes overwhelming – or smell the scents after a storm.
Raffaele, our first son, was born in 1989 and Francesca arrived in 1993: each birth calls for rebirth, revision, a change of viewpoint and objectives.
If you want to understand your child, you must see the world through his eyes and with his spirit: do not impose growth but enable it, respecting its rhythms and needs.

Here are “Fiore-Uomo”, “Fiore-Donna”, “Fiore-Bambino”, “Fiore-Vita”.

What others say

Lanfranco Colombo, photography critic: Your “flower details” show a particular sensibility that only someone who is sensitive can read in your “clean” eyes. Your icons emerge from normality to become “simple” butterflies wings.

Bravo !

Eros Macchi, director : The material nature of the medium sinks, leaving the sublime quality of the immaterial image, attaining an excellence in an art that can no longer be classified as photography.

Fausto Raschiatore, photography critic: Harmony, Meditation, Poetry, Silence. Four words that sum up Giulio Vittorio Rasini’s photography as a synthesis of colour and music; these terms also contextualise Paulo Coelho’s work, a combination of spirituality and magic. A photographer and a writer. Two exquisite artists, with a shared line of enquiry: an aristocratic profile in terms of language, themes and sensibility.

When I look at the Piedmontese artist’s images my attention is drawn to the narrative works of the Brazilian writer. When I look at Rasini’s Flowers, I experience the same emotions as when I read a book by Coelho, I feel the same sensations and some sort of link between these two artistic universes, albeit in different contexts and formats. Perhaps it’s the language, the approach, the ability to tell a story, who knows! Certainly, love dominates both of their artistic languages: love, profound, intense, global love.

Love is always Life, says the author, in his personal view of nature.  By co-ordinating its various aspects, he uses it as a compendium of his own personal and photographic development. This is a path with wide-ranging cultural implications, and FLEURS represents an important aspect, the start of a design project: To observe is to love Giulio Vittorio Rasini has way of looking at things, an artistic personality and an emphatic versatility for research and analysis that are deeply felt, penetrating, filled with emotional nuances, framed by language whose signs and colour intersect like the notes of a score, conceptualising moods, reflections and points of view. To rediscover the wonder of beauty and the beauty of wonder, as the roots evolve into flowers, darkness into light, the rebirth of colour, into life, says Rasini.

His shots – FioreUomo, FioreDonna, FioreBimbo, FioreVita – are elegant, sensual, imbued with eros, and enlivened with colour and music, spirituality and magic. All these blend harmoniously together to form a carefully balanced composition, in which the love for nature blends with the intimate need to weave a narrative in which harmony, meditation, poetry and silence all play a role. These are images captured without artificial means, as if seen through the eyes of a child or a bee, with complete freedom of movement, moments held fast in the wind.
